In 1847, a major earthquake struck with its epicenter in the Zenkoji Plain (Nagano Basin).
Marukome distributed miso and tamari soy sauce from an earthen storehouse that survived the earthquake, bringing relief to many people.
In 1854, we began full-scale miso production at this site.
